Samana, Dominican Republic

Samana, Dominican Republic
Abroad NCL Pearl
January 18th

This was part of our honeymoon trip in January. We didn't specifically go to Samana, but we were right across the waterway from it so I will be writing about Cayo Levenado.

Samana was our first stop of four abroad the NCL Pearl. We choose to do this shore excursion mostly due to the fact that Samana is very undeveloped and didn't have much that interested us.
Our day started off with us waiting for our group to be called so we could tender directly off the cruise ship to smaller boats to take us to the island. I thought the wait was going to be longer but it turned out to go much faster then I thought. When we got to the boat to tender there were two men helping people into the boats and then off we were!

When you first arrive on the island you are greeted by some people who give you a map of the island. Then you walk along the path through the little "shopping" area they have set up. As you follow along the path there are people asking if you want your hair braided and playing music. Then you come to the beautiful white sandy beach!

We spent a lot of time on Cayo Leventado relaxing on lounge chairs, playing in the ocean and walking the beach. John spend some of his time snorkeling while I read on the beach. It was definitely one of the best beach days I've ever had. I personally didn't look at any of the shopping area as most of the stuff was made of wood and didn't interest me. John said they really didn't have anything worth while or that would be nice to remember the trip. Here are some more pictures for you to enjoy!
