Nurturing YOU – Journal Prompts {Fill Your Cup}

I finally had the time to sit down and go through the new journal prompts from Creative with Kids . I've got to say as a parent, but especially a stay-at-home mom this nurturing is something that a lot! I nurture my husband and kids, but rarely myself. I find that as mom I need to find new ways to nurture myself because if I'm not taking care of myself how can I take care of everyone else. What are 5 or more SIMPLE activities I can do when I truly need to nurture myself? (Think about what you can do when you’re burnt out and low energy – take a bath? drink a cup of tea? walk outside and take a deep breath?  What nurtures YOU?) This is the question that really stood out to me in this category. What can I do to nurture myself when I need it? Here is what I came up with. 1. Exercise. I find that whenever I exercise in anyway I also feel better. I need to figure out a way especially in the winter to stop making excusing and just exercise. 2. Have a cup of tea. I love tea...

Shifting Perspective – Journal Prompts {Fill Your Cup}

Image
Hello everyone! The last few days have been really stressful. We had visitors in town this past weekend and L has been in a very odd mood plus we started swim lessons. I received an e-mail a few weeks ago about the topic of shifting perspectives and how as mothers we do it often. With everything that has been going on I thought it would be a good topic for me to write and reflect on. **When meltdown moments strike, how can you rebound quickly, shift your perspective, and put a positive light back into your day? So when meltdown moments happen what I do just depends on the situation. So if L has a meltdown I typically just ignore her until she is done. If she has a meltdown because of doing something bad then I take a different course of action depending on what happened. If it's just a typical toddler meltdown ignoring her is my rebound and lets me shift my perspective. I usually take a deep breath and count to five. By then she is usually down and I can ask her what is wrong...

Patience – Journal Prompts {Fill Your Cup}

We wish for more patience – what does that mean?  An ability to feel content waiting?  Less stress when things don’t go your way?  What does being patient mean to you? I think that wishing for patience means just having more peaceful moments in your day-to-day life. We all have to wait at certain times so I think the ability to feel content and stress less is what wishing for patience truly means. I think that just being able to realize that you can't control everything and taking the time to enjoy every moment of life is what patience's is all about. Are you ever impatient because you are trying to control too many people, events or situations in your life?  What can you let go of in order to be more patient? I am definitely impatient because I am trying to control people, events, or situations in my life. I am your typically Type-A personality that needs to control everything in my life. I like things done a certa...

31 Days 2013: Relaxing

I've been very uninspired to write the last few days and didn't want to force something out. Over the weekend I got an email from Creative With Kids a blog I follow and her topic and prompt questions got me thinking. It was all about relaxing and how her focusing on getting things done robs her from relaxing. It got me thinking because I feel the same way most days. I don't always feel I get time to relax or even can enjoy the little things in like. For the most part I've been really good at keeping myself in the moment but the last few days I've felt rushed and like I was on a constant to-do list. Before I had Lexi relaxing for me was curling up with a good book, watching one of the shows I enjoy, and messing around on the Internet. I still get to do those things I just have to pick and choose, which ones are more important and make time for it. I used to watch a lot of TV and now I pick and choose, which shows are important to me to keep up with. I also DVR mos...
