31 Days 2013: Interviews

I've been on a few interviews recently and have had a whole bunch of phone interviews along with them. Interviews freak me out. I am not one of those people that get excited or even remotely interested in talking about me especially since I have very little professional experience. Today's interview was rather strange for me though. I've had a group interview with other candidates but never an interview with three people from the company. I felt it was rather awkward and I still cannot figure out why they did it this way other than what they told me, which was it gave them three different perspectives. I was so nervous and completely out of my element just because the whole interview seemed very stiff and robotic almost. They had a packet of question and each asked one without any personality. To me that just make me feel like the company has no personality and is just stiff and boring.  Anyways my whole point for today is that I am trying to take the advice of two ...

31 Days 2013 - Change & Helping

My post today is going to take a bit of a different turn, but still has to do with the general theme. As I've stated before I am definitely a people pleaser as well as a person who likes to help others. I tend to give much more then I receive and most of the time I don't care. This last person I've helped out I feel as though they used me for a few months and when the going got tough just decided to up and revolt back to their old ways. I get that change is hard, trust me I know it is, but at some point you just have to bite the bullet and stick with it. If you constantly go back to the things that are comfortable to you then you will never figure out how to get through all the uncomfortable parts of life.  I guess my biggest problem is that I can't put myself in this person shoes. If I wanted to better my life then I would do everything in my power to do that instead of retreating to what is comfortable and safe. When I decided to be at stay-at-home mom I was t...

31 Days 2013 - Help Determining Personality Traits

I've been bad and forgot to blog a couple days. I am going to try and do better to remember the rest of the time. Today I've been thinking a lot about a conversation I had last night with my step-mom. We were just catching up and she said something to me that has stuck with me and made me really think. The back story is that I left my previous job in January to try the stay-at-home mom thing and because of how I unhappy I was. I was going to use the time to bond with the baby and look for something in a career field I wanted to be in. Well fast-forward 10 months and I'm still without a job and even more confused. Now back to the conversation...  We were talking about how I wanted to apply for some jobs at her company and how I was kind of disappointed I didn't find anything marketing related or administrative liked I hoped, but was heading back to the banking world. She told me that she is a firm believer in everything happening for a reason and that maybe I am ...

31 Days 2013 - Prioritize

Today was the first day in awhile that I didn't think about all the stress I've been under and just enjoyed life. I spent the day playing and teaching my little girl all sorts of fun things. It really made me appreciate my husband and all the hard work he does so I can be a stay-at-home mom. It always made me realize that I need to prioritize what is important to me. I feel like this could be a big help in deciding what I want out of life. Once we had Lexi it became very clear that how life was before would not work any longer. It took me a few months to understand that I couldn't be the same person I was before when it came to how certain aspects of my life were. For instance, I always liked a very clean house. As this year has progressed I realize I rather spend time with my family then worry about the few dirty dishes or the pile of laundry. I still take time to clean the house and do laundry but I am not so type A about it all now, which is extremely nice.  I think ...
