Daverley Running Belt Review

Image
Wow, I've been bad at blogging! It's been a month since my last write up and I didn't even notice. I really hope you all enjoyed your summer and are getting back into the swing of things. We've had a crazy busy summer, made even crazier by the fact we are expecting baby number two in November.  If you've read any of my previous posts then you know I have taken up running the last year or so. I am now getting to the point where I am even running on my own without L. My solo runs are great and I enjoy them much more then pushing a jogging stroller, but I've found I have a little problem. Where do I put my car key at?? My arm band for my iPhone has a slot, but it's too small for my car key so this hasn't solved any problem for me. I hate to tell you because it's gross, but I've tucking it in the side of my sports bra since that is the only place I feel I won't lose it.  I am happy to say I have found a solution though!! A friend of mine put...

Nurturing YOU – Journal Prompts {Fill Your Cup}

I finally had the time to sit down and go through the new journal prompts from Creative with Kids . I've got to say as a parent, but especially a stay-at-home mom this nurturing is something that a lot! I nurture my husband and kids, but rarely myself. I find that as mom I need to find new ways to nurture myself because if I'm not taking care of myself how can I take care of everyone else. What are 5 or more SIMPLE activities I can do when I truly need to nurture myself? (Think about what you can do when you’re burnt out and low energy – take a bath? drink a cup of tea? walk outside and take a deep breath?  What nurtures YOU?) This is the question that really stood out to me in this category. What can I do to nurture myself when I need it? Here is what I came up with. 1. Exercise. I find that whenever I exercise in anyway I also feel better. I need to figure out a way especially in the winter to stop making excusing and just exercise. 2. Have a cup of tea. I love tea...

Weight Loss Journey & Tips!

Image
I've been asked a lot lately about how I've lost so much weight. I figured I would write about it to give a little more detailed information. I first started trying to lose weight before I got pregnant and I was successful as well. I didn't really change much except working out more frequently and watching my calorie intake. I lost 30 lbs by the end of January 2012. I was extremely happy and continued to work out then I went away to Vegas for a Bachelorette party one weekend in March and stated to slip with the exercising and watching what I ate. I was getting discourage with not being able to get pregnant and used food to cope. Guess what happened next?? That's right in April 2012 I found out I was pregnant! I guess that trip to Vegas for a long girl’s weekend helped me miss J. During my pregnancy I only gained 25 lbs so I didn't gain everything back, but enough that I hated how I looked after we welcome our little girl L in December 2012 (12/12/12 to be exact...

Happy New Year Friends!

I hope everyone had an enjoyable and safe new year. I've been so busy the last few days and haven't had a moment to sit down to blog. With the New Year there is always a lot of talk about resolutions. I don't make them and I don't plan to now. I think it's a waste since most of the resolutions don't last for longer than a month. I know that's how it used to be for me. I use to make vows to work out more, eat better, do better at school, etc. and I found that it only lasted for a month maybe two at most. Now I just resolve to do better year round. The whole eating better and working out resolutions is pointless unless you are ready and willingly to make a lifestyle change. I think the idea of wanting to do these things is great, but you shouldn't wait until the New Year to do them. I also think that if you stop you should just start again and not wait until next year to try again. I fall off the horse frequently through the year and have found that I...

The Big Lifestyle Change!

I’ve been actively trying to lose weight since a few months after I had Lexi. I wanted to make a big lifestyle change instead of just being on a diet all the time. I started my food plan while I was still pregnant and have continued with it. My biggest problem with a diet is that I feel like I am deprived of certain foods, which in turns just makes me just pig out on them even more. I am just going to give a simple overview of what I have been doing that works for me. After I lost the 25 pounds of weight I gained from my pregnancy I weighed in the ballpark of 180 (can’t remember the exact number anymore). I’ve lost 13 additional pounds as of September 20, 2013. I now weigh 172 pounds. So how did I do it? Food: Well the first thing I did was start tracking all the food I eat. I use MyFitnessPal after testing out other apps. I found this one to be the most comprehensive in terms of what they have in their food database. I’ve done this in the past when following other d...
