A Guide to Maui with Kids!

Image
This blog has been a long time coming, but I've entered a new phase of life where one kid is at school all day and another is gone two mornings of the week. I've been trying to figure out besides running and basic household stuff what to do with all this time! I'm gonna give this blog thing another shot. I miss writing and interacting with people a lot online. So if you are planning a trip to Maui soon or dreaming of one, I hope this helps you. A Guide to Maui with Kids I know what your probably thinking, "You took your kids to Maui why?" I get this question a lot. The main reason was we had a family wedding that we wanted to go to. Also, why not take your kids to Maui? It's a beautiful place with many things for families. I also love to travel with my kids and have them experience new places.  Basic information of our trip: Duration: 12 Days including travel Airline: United out of Cleveland with a connecting in San Francisco. Bolthouse Farms Plant Protein Milk Review

Image
Bolthouse Farms may not be a name you're familiar with, but it should be if you use alternative dairy products. Established in 1915 when The Bolthouse family started farming carrots they have grown all the way to California's Central Valley. There belief is to make better soil health choices, which is why they use compost to better the soil. Bolthouse Farms also makes it a priority to reduce food waste by using all of the carrot. They also have a strong belief in renewable energy. Bolthouse Farms carries many products from beverages (cafe, fruit, milk, veggie, etc) to dressings and of course carrots. Bolthouse Farms Plant Protein Milk Bolthouse Farms is probably best known for their juices and salad dressing, but they just launched into plant protein milk this Fall. Unlike the other non-dairy milks this one is made of pea protein. It provides 50% more calcium than dairy milk with 10 grams of protein per serving. It's also vegan, non-gmo, and free of dairy, lactose, nuts...

Life with Postpartum Depression

Image
May was recently announced as National Maternal Awareness month and I've been deciding on whether I wanted to write anything about it. I feel as people get annoyed that I still bring it up, but after spending some time praying and being inspired by a friend Kayla on Facebook, I decided to go for it. My journey with PPD/PPA completely altered my life in ways I never expected it too. Heck it still affects my life today even though I'm not in the thick of it anymore. My Symptoms I wanted to put this outside of the section below so I could talk in a little detail about it. This handy chart below is a good things to look at, if you think you might have postpartum depression or anxiety. These are all of my symptoms: Sleep disturbance Chronic exhaustion and hyperactivity Crying Feeling guilty and inadequate Irritability (with or without cause) Anxiety (this came much later for me) Loss of interest in sex Loss of confidence and self-esteem Until I kne...

Pro Football Hall of Fame Half Marathon Recap!

Image
Pro Football Hall of Fame Half Marathon Recap!! Well I did it!!! I finished my first half marathon two weekends ago. I still can't believe it.  After three months of training all the work I put in helped me finish that day. It has taken me a little while to figure out exactly how I feel about this whole process or I would have wrote this sooner. I am trying to get better at blogging and going back to what I originally started this for, which is just to share my life with family who lives afar and friends. With that being said, I challenged myself this year to try new things and say yes more. I wanted to do 30 things in my 30th year, but I have had a hard time coming up with enough ideas. After suffering from postpartum depression last year I felt very much lost and still do. Other then a mother and wife I really didn't know what else I was so this lead to my quest to try new things and experience life a little more. Mostly I wanted to focus a little on myself so I could fe...

Rockets of Awesome Review`

Image
Hello November! Where has the year gone? I cannot believe it's the holiday season already. This review is a long time coming. Story time. I had original wrote this post back in October and thought I had set it up to post at certain time. Turns out that wasn't true at all and my post didn't save :( It has taken me way too long to get back here to write, but we had a crazy, busy Fall with soccer games, L starting preschool, and our Disney trip. I finally feel like this week I caught up with everything I needed too, which is nuts because now it's the holidays and both of my kids birthday. I hope you enjoy reading about Rockets of Awesome and the great site I found! Rockets of Awesome! What is Rockets of Awesome you ask? It's like Stitch Fix for kids!! Anyone that knows me knows I love buying clothes for my kids especially L so this is something I was really excited to try out. It's really hard with the little one know to get out and go shopping like I use t...

SLS3 Neon Running Sock Review

Image
I've been running more this year then any other time in my life and I have been on the lookout for great, affordable gear. Running socks are something I've been having trouble finding. I either find ones I like, but not in my price point or I find ones that are in my price point and they are terrible. Enter these Neon Running socks by SLS3. I've worn these a handful of times when running and I have to say I am really impressed. So here is what I like about them: They are really comfortable. Light-weight, which is great for hot summer runs. They fit as described. I love the bright neon colors. Some things I don't like: The ankle part of the sock is tighter then I would like. They are a bit pricey then I would like. I really do not have anything negative to say about them. The quality has held up really well with wearing and washing them. I think the only thing that could be a problem is that because they are light-weight, you would need heavier...

The Days (and Nights) Are Long, But The Years Are Short

Image
This first half of the year, I've been told that saying a lot and while it's meant to be helpful, it's not all the time especially to someone suffering from postpartum depression and/or anxiety. The last seven month have been the hardest of my life. I never expected to have postpartum depressions or anxiety and I never expected to have it show up two months after having T. It has really thrown me for a loop and taken a lot longer to "get over" for lack of a better word. From about February/March until middle of July has been the roughest patch for me. I was barely sleeping, had a baby who screamed and cried all day and night, and had a toddler who needed me as well. I have spent months trying to figure out what is wrong with my son. I've had the pediatrician check for some many things and was always left with no answers.  June was my breaking point. I was in a really bad place and luckily my husband really started noticing. I think the sheer lack of sl...
